Morocco Considers Easing COVID-19 Restrictions as Cases Decline

As the epidemiological situation seems to be improving in Morocco, voices, even within the Scientific Committee, are being raised to demand a relaxation of restrictions.
This is the case of Prof. Azeddine Ibrahimi, who is surprised by the maintenance of the restrictions, while the resurgence of positive cases has been brought under control. "What are we waiting for?" he asked in a post on his Facebook page on Sunday.
In his argument, the scientist referred to the latest bi-weekly report, indicating a decline in the epidemiological curve over five consecutive weeks and the success of the anti-Covid-19 vaccination campaign in Morocco.
"After having exceeded 60% of vaccinated people among those over 12 years of age (...) I think it has become clear that the majority have been vaccinated and want to resume a semi-normal life. There will be no world with zero Covid," he wrote, adding that "it is time to dare scientifically and practically to ease the restrictions." The expert called for the gradual opening of public spaces and places of worship with a "reasonable number" of people.
The same sentiment comes from Dr. Saïd Afif, who recalls that it is these health restrictions that have allowed the current favorable epidemiological situation to be reached. He says he is in favor of their easing, but conditioned on the strict maintenance of barrier gestures, as well as the implementation of the vaccine pass.
On this subject, the latter thinks that its official adoption should be formalized "in about a week", the time for the new government to be set up. And to note that "the educational spots broadcast by the Ministry of Health in recent days are preparing the population" for this measure.
