Morocco Considers Closing Borders with Europe Amid COVID Surge and New Variant

Morocco could close its borders with Europe, given the critical health situation in some countries like Belgium or France, and the discovery of a new variant in South Africa.
The Moroccan authorities are seriously considering closing the kingdom’s borders with European countries, most of which are experiencing a fourth wave of contamination and tend towards a fifth wave.

In Europe, Morocco could suspend its flights to and from Belgium where a case of the new variant has been detected. Morocco decided on Thursday to suspend its flights with France as of Friday. Finally, the measure comes into effect this Sunday.
