Morocco Coach Regragui Stands by Ziyech Despite Calls for Change Ahead of AFCON

While some voices are rising to ask the coach of the Atlas Lions to replace Hakim Ziyech in difficulty in Turkey by Ilias Akhomach who shone at the Paris Olympic Games, Walid Regragui renews his confidence in the Galatasaray player.
Regragui intends to put Ziyech on the list of players who will be called up for the next matches of the Atlas Lions. The coach of the Atlas Lions would have had a long discussion with Ziyech and let him know that he is counting on him and that his place is important within the Moroccan national team, which is preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations that the Kingdom will host next year. A way for the Moroccan technician to put an end to the criticisms and the voices that asked him to proceed to changes in the composition of the Moroccan team, in particular by betting on Ilias Akhomach instead of Hakim Ziyech, due to his performance at the Paris Olympic Games.
Morocco will face Gabon on September 6, before crossing swords with Lesotho on September 9 during the first and second rounds of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) qualifiers. Walid Regragui has not, for the moment, revealed the list of players who will be called up for these two matches. He should do so on August 28.
