Morocco Coach Finalizes Squad for Crucial Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers

The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, continues to refine his list of players for the matches against Gabon and Lesotho, scheduled for September 6 and 10 as part of the first and second rounds of qualifications for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) Morocco 2025. The final list should be made public on August 28.
Barring any surprises, the players called up for the two matches will be known on that date, just before the training camp that will take place in Rabat from September 2, in preparation for the match against Gabon scheduled for September 6. The names of new recruits, as well as those of certain Atlas Cubs who shone during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, should appear on this list.
The Moroccan technician could call up new talents like Osame Sahraoui, (Lille, 23 years old), Adam Aznou (Bayern Munich, 18 years old), Khalil Fayad (Montpellier, 20 years old), and Youssef Enriquez Lekhedim (Real Madrid, 18 years old), confided to Al Araby Al Jadeed a source within the technical staff of the Moroccan national team.
"Coach Regragui has included these four players in the extended list, but we don’t know if he will invite them to the next training camp or if he will just follow them with their European clubs before officially calling them up for the next competitions," the same source said.
The composition of the player list for these decisive matches remains a headache for Walid Regragui. The Moroccan coach will have to find a balance between the Cubs who performed well at the Paris 2024 Olympics and certain Atlas Lions who have regained their form and consistency in their clubs, like Selim Amallah (Villarreal) and Sofyan Amrabat, back at Fiorentina after his loan to Manchester United.
