Morocco’s Coach Looks to Young Strikers for National Team’s Future

Walid Regragui, the coach of the Atlas Lions, is a busy man. Between the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at home and the 2026 World Cup, the challenges are numerous. To meet them, he is betting on youth and the emergence of new attacking talents.
Two names keep coming up: El Mehdi Maouhoub and Hamza Igamane. The first, revealed at Raja Club Athletic, is setting the counters on fire at Dynamo Moscow. Arrived in Russia after the 2024 Paris Olympics, he has scored 7 goals and provided 3 assists in just 19 matches. Enough to catch the national coach’s eye.
The second, Hamza Igamane, is making a name for himself with the Glasgow Rangers. With 6 goals this season, including 4 in the Europa League, he is confirming the hopes placed in him. His coach, Philippe Clement, is full of praise for him, calling him a "rare gem". A talent that Regragui intends to exploit.
Faced with repeated calls from supporters to integrate these young players, Walid Regragui seems determined to revitalize his attack. While the national team can already count on players like Youssef En-Nesyri, Soufiane Rahimi and Ayoub El Kaabi, the arrival of Mohoub and Igamane promises to enrich the tactical options.
