Morocco Coach Halilhodzic: Team Not Ready for World Cup Qualification

The Moroccan national team is not yet ready to take on major challenges, due to its recent performances. Optimistic, Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic urges supporters to be patient.
Diagnosing the Moroccan team, the national coach is demanding even more time and indulgence from Moroccan supporters to rebuild a competitive national team, recalls the daily Al Akhbar.
According to Vahid Halilhodzic, the Atlas Lions cannot qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar in their current state. "There are several imperfections and we must make several adjustments to ensure qualification," said coach Halilhodzic.
The subject of strong criticism since his arrival in Morocco, the former FC Nantes coach is convinced of leading the Lions to the World Cup as he did with Algeria, Japan and Ivory Coast.
"During the draw against Mauritania I was booed by the supporters. I measure the level of frustration of the Moroccans who left the 2019 CAN very early after the defeat against Benin. But I want to remind you that I am starting my reconstruction project of the national team with only 5 players from the old framework of the team that participated in the CAN," the coach specified.
Vahid Halilhodzic demands in return in the national team "star" players, prestigious clubs in Europe, exemplary behavior in order to make Morocco dream.
