Morocco’s National Team Shakeup: Halilhodzic Replaces Baumelle with Chauvin as Assistant Coach

Patrice Baumelle was fired from his position as assistant coach of the national team. Vahid Halilhodzic replaced him with Landry Chauvin, who will hold the position of assistant coach alongside Mustapha Hadji.
The former assistant of Hervé Renard is no longer part of the Bosnian coach’s technical staff. Under contract with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation until 2021, Patrice Baumelle is now a luxury unemployed person and continues to receive his high salary.
According to the daily Al Akhbar, Vahid Halilhodzic categorically refused to integrate the former assistant coach of Hervé Renard, Patrice Baumelle, into his technical staff, despite the recommendation of the federation.
To replace Beaumelle, the former coach of FC Nantes has chosen one of his former assistants with whom he has more affinities and experience. Landry Chauvin was head coach of Sedan in Ligue 2 (2008-2011), FC Nantes (2011-2012), Stade Brestois (2012-2013), as well as Club Africain in 2014.
"The federation is in a bad position after the extension of the contract of the French technician until 2021 on the basis of the recommendation of the former coach of the Atlas Lions, Hervé Renard, who took advantage of the approach of the CAN to put pressure on the federation," the same daily specifies.
Moreover, the appointment of Landry Chauvin, 50, as assistant coach will be announced in the coming days, the newspaper reports.
