Morocco’s Coach Faces Uncertain Future After Africa Cup of Nations Exit

Morocco lost to Egypt during extra time (2-1) in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2021) being held in Cameroon. Will Moroccan coach Vahid Halilhodzic suffer the same fate as his Tunisian counterpart Mondher Kebaier, who was fired on Sunday?
Franco-Bosnian coach Vahid Halilhodzic failed to qualify Morocco for the semi-finals of the 33rd edition of CAN 2021. This defeat of the Atlas Lions against the Pharaohs of Egypt could cost the Moroccan coach dearly, as he failed the mission assigned to him by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). The fans of the Moroccan national team are eagerly awaiting the decision that FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa will make regarding Vahid Halilhodzic’s future.
Will he be fired like his Tunisian counterpart Mondher Kebaier, who was dismissed following the elimination last Saturday in Cameroon of the Carthage Eagles from the African tournament in the quarter-finals, by Burkina Faso (1-0) or will he be maintained? A decision will be made in this regard before the World Cup 2022 qualifying play-offs in Qatar. Morocco will face the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on March 24 and 29.
