Morocco’s CNSS Reopens Tourism Aid Applications for COVID-Affected Workers

Operators in certain tourism sub-sectors can now register on the CNSS website to benefit from the flat-rate allowance granted to their employees and trainees under contract for declarations made in February 2020.
The announcement was made on Friday by the CNSS management, specifying that this measure has been taken to support the tourism sector, which has been severely affected by Covid-19.
Concerned by the decision are classified accommodation establishments, travel agencies approved by the government authority in charge of tourism, tourist transport for persons authorized by the government authority in charge of transport, and temporary employment agencies with contracts with employers in the aforementioned tourism sub-sectors, signed before the end of February 2020, the National Fund specified in a press release.
Similarly, those who have been on sick leave, maternity or work accident are also taken into account, provided that the actors mentioned meet the conditions stipulated in decree n°2.21.966.
This measure also applies to tourist guides with a professional card and professional tax, or who are registered in the register of self-employed workers and insured by the CNSS under law 98.15 establishing medical coverage for non-salaried workers, including those who have not previously benefited from the flat-rate allowance, provided that their situation is regularized and their work documents are renewed before December 31, 2021, the same source added.
Financed by the special fund for managing the Covid-19 pandemic, this measure remains valid from September 1 to the end of December 2021, the CNSS specified, adding that operators wishing to have their workers benefit from this advantage must make their declaration via the portal covid19.cnss.ma for the months of September, October and November 2021, between December 17, 2021 and January 3, 2022. For the month of December 2021, declarations can be made until January 16, 2022.
