Morocco: He claimed gas poisoning: the Khénifra police officer convicted of murdering his partner

The facts date back to April 6, 2025. The inspector, who had promised marriage to the victim, had himself transported the young woman’s lifeless body to the hospital, where she succumbed. He had then told the family that she had died of butane gas poisoning. According to the newspaper Assabah, he had insisted with the relatives that they proceed with a quick burial and give up the autopsy, despite the doubts expressed by the medical staff.

However, the maneuver failed when the public prosecutor intervened to order an autopsy, while the family was about to bury the body. The forensic examination proved decisive: it formally contradicted the gas accident theory, establishing that the real cause of death was strangulation.

Investigators also heard several witnesses from the victim’s professional and personal entourage. Confronted with these scientific conclusions and other evidence, the inspector, who had initially denied it, finally admitted his relationship with the nurse. He was placed in pre-trial detention before being tried and sentenced this week.
