The Rabat Court of Appeal has handed down a heavy prison sentence to a young man tried for attempted premeditated homicide on his own mother.
The verdict was handed down in the night from Wednesday to Thursday. The criminal chamber of the court of first instance at the Rabat Court of Appeal sentenced a young man to 20 years of criminal imprisonment for attempting to kill his mother, a sexagenarian. The events took place last May in the locality of Mers Elkhair, prefecture of Témara. The sexagenarian would have denied her son access to the family home at a late hour. Furious, this man, "known for his turbulent character and aggressiveness" managed to get in.
He grabs a kitchen knife and tries to kill his mother. She survived this attempted premeditated homicide thanks to delicate surgical interventions performed at the Lalla Aicha regional hospital, reports Al Ahdath. Witnesses had hypothesized mental disorders, which was confirmed by medical reports. The young man will then be placed in a psychiatric institution before the opening of his trial.
