Morocco’s New Car Sales Slump 8% in First Nine Months of 2023

New car sales in Morocco are still in the red. At the end of September, 120,905 units were sold, a decrease of 8.15% compared to the same period last year.
This trend concerns all segments, said the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM). According to the figures, 107,713 passenger cars (PC) were sold at the end of September, a decrease of 6.83%, while 13,192 light commercial vehicles (LCV) were registered, down 17.68% compared to the same period in 2021.
In the lead of the PC segments is Dacia with 29,435 units sold at the end of September, or a market share of 27.33%. This is followed by Renault with 15,698 registrations, or a market share of 14.57%. The Korean brand Hyundai occupies the third place with 10,697 new cars sold, or a market share of 14.93%.
As for the LCV segment, Renault is in the lead with 3,192 units (24.2% market share), ahead of DFSK which sold 1,902 vehicles (14.42% market share) and Ford 1,544 units (11.7% market share). On the premium side, Audi increased its sales by 2.41% to 2,938 cars to reach a market share of 2.73%, ahead of BMW (2,119 units and a market share of 1.97%) and Mercedes (1,875 units and a market share of 1.74%).
