Morocco's CAN Exit Sparks Controversy Over Team's Lavish Spending

A few days after the premature elimination of the "Atlas Lions" from the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) in Egypt, the Moroccan public is still awaiting the reaction of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). Meanwhile, news related to the spending of this institution during the competition remains unanswered and needs to be confirmed or denied.

According to Akhbarona, the FRMF called on the services of a famous Moroccan caterer to ensure the preparation of meals for the players and technical staff of the national team. The caterer’s fees were set at 300,000 dirhams per day, provoking skeptical and mixed reactions in the sports community. "Fortunately Morocco was eliminated in the round of 16," or "What exactly were they eating?" some observers wondered.

Moreover, on the occasion of the qualification of the "Atlas Lions" to the round of 16, an evening was organized in an Egyptian nightclub, "Le Nil Bleu". It would have required an envelope of 1,200,000 dirhams. All the players left the premises after partying for only two hours, with the exception of seven players who preferred to finish the evening on the upper floor of the club, accompanied by dancers, alcoholic beverages and the famous Egyptian shisha, still according to the same source.

Let us recall that the "Atlas Lions" left the CAN, during the eliminations, in the round of 16, following a premature defeat against the Benin team, by 1 goal to 0. A bitter failure for the national team and for the entire Moroccan people.
