Morocco buys almost as much American aerospace equipment as Spain

U.S. exports of advanced aerospace products to Morocco exceeded one billion dollars in seven months. The amount is now close to that of Spain, while sales to the Kingdom are increasing much faster.

Between January and July 2026, the United States exported $1.006 billion worth of aerospace products to Morocco, according to the latest statistics from the U.S. Census Bureau. Over the same period, exports to Spain reached $1.150 billion.

The gap between the two countries is therefore now only about $144 million. In July, it narrowed to just $8 million: $148 million in U.S. exports to Morocco, compared with $156 million to Spain.

The “Aerospace Advanced Technology Products” category used by the U.S. administration notably includes most new civilian or military aircraft and helicopters, jet engines, flight simulators and autopilots. Weapons and missiles fall under a separate statistical category.

Sales to Morocco soar by 35%

The comparison with 2025 shows how quickly Morocco is catching up with Spain. In the first seven months of last year, U.S. aerospace exports to the Kingdom amounted to $743 million. They therefore increased by 35.4% in one year.

To Spain, they rose from $1.131 billion to $1.150 billion over the same period, an increase of just 1.7%.

This acceleration comes as Royal Air Maroc rapidly expands its fleet. In 2026, the airline notably accelerated the delivery of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft and is continuing to strengthen its long-haul fleet. A new Boeing 787-9 had thus joined Casablanca directly from the Boeing factory in Everett, United States.

U.S. statistics do not, however, make it possible to attribute this billion dollars to Royal Air Maroc. They cover all exports classified in this category destined for Morocco and may therefore involve several buyers as well as different types of equipment.

Nevertheless, the level reached places Morocco almost on a par with Spain for these American aerospace products. In July, the two markets were separated by only $8 million.
