Morocco Businesses Consider Vaccine Passport Requirement for Employees

The vaccine passport is fueling debates within Moroccan companies. Will the bosses impose the precious pass on their employees?

The General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM) is considering the introduction of the vaccine passport for employees. In this regard, it has provided its members with a summary note on the laws governing the professional environment. "Asking our collaborators for their vaccine passport, in a certain way, encourages vaccination. And it is also a way to demonstrate responsibility towards our staff, knowing that all health and protection measures will be taken for their attention," explains a business leader to Challenge.

Another business leader shares this view. In the midst of preparations for the return of vacation for several employees, his human resources department has sent them an internal note by email. Employees were asked to present a negative PCR test, accompanied by the vaccine passport. This will allow them to resume their activity in complete serenity and under good working conditions, adds the HR director.

On the web, the subject is being discussed. According to an Internet user, more than 70% of respondents welcome a good idea from the employers, while less than 20% disapprove of it. The reactions collected within the staff are diverse and varied. Some employees believe that the employer is not required to impose the vaccine passport on its employees, as the law has not made it mandatory, while others believe that not doing so could have unfortunate financial consequences on the salaries of workers. Another category of employees say they are in favor of presenting the vaccine passport to access the workplace, as this is a matter of everyone’s health.
