Morocco to Build New Military Base Near Algerian Border in Jerada Province

Morocco is preparing to build a new military base in the province of Jerada. Located in the commune of Al-Aouinat, it will be built on a 23-hectare site.
In accordance with Decree No. 2.20.337 promulgated by the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Othmani, and published in Official Bulletin 6884, the military base will be built on land that was part of the forest domain, and which will now pass under state ownership to house a base for the Royal Armed Forces, reports Hespress.
According to this decree published at the request of the Delegate Minister in charge of National Defense, Abdellatif Loudiyi, the public interest required the separation of the forest system from this domain belonging to the "Beni Yaali" forest, the subject of title number 02/149946, located in the commune of Al-Aouinat.
According to the same source, the sum of 1.15 million dirhams, estimated as the value of the land, will be paid by the Delegate Ministry to the National Defense Administration, to the Land Reuse Fund (FRD).
