Morocco Breaks Ground on 20,000-Seat Athletics Stadium in Rabat
Everything is ready for the construction of the new athletics stadium in Rabat. The Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc (SGTM) has been entrusted with the work.
Morocco is accelerating the development of sports infrastructure to host the biggest national and international sporting events. The national agency for public facilities has entrusted the construction of the new athletics stadium in Rabat to the Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc (SGTM) for 554.6 million dirhams. The company has one year to deliver the project.
With a capacity of 20,000 seats, the new athletics stadium in Rabat will have an eight-lane track and nine lanes for the 110 meters. The infrastructure will be built on four levels: the basement, the ground floor and two floors, and will be able to host football matches. The stadium will include a series of sports facilities, warehouses, a press conference room, a meeting room, media spaces and VIP areas, in addition to sanitary facilities and administrative offices, as well as spaces for weight training and warm-ups.
