Morocco’s Bread Prices Stable for Now, Bakers Federation Confirms

No immediate increase in the price of bread in Morocco, reassures the National Federation of Bakeries and Pastries of Morocco. Faced with the rumors that have been circulating in recent weeks, the Federation has clarified its position in an official press release.
For the moment, the price of basic bread will remain unchanged. The Federation explains this choice by the desire to wait for the outcome of an upcoming meeting between industry professionals and the competent authorities. This meeting aims to find sustainable solutions to the worrying rise in the price of butane gas, which directly impacts the production costs of bread.
Saying it is concerned to find concerted solutions, the National Federation of Bakeries and Pastries of Morocco announces its intention to send an official letter to the Prime Minister. This aims to open a constructive dialogue on the sector’s demands and to explore avenues of collaboration with the government.
Among the priority demands are the reduction of tax and social security burdens weighing on bakeries. The Federation calls for a reduction in contributions to taxes and social security, drawing inspiration from measures already in place for other fragile sectors.
