Morocco’s Border Closure Impacts Winter Tourism Rankings in France

Morocco is not on the list of the best-selling destinations at the beginning of this year in France, according to the booking trends revealed by Entreprises du Voyage (EdV).
Morocco, Thailand or Tunisia are not among the best-selling destinations at the beginning of the year. Destinations usually essential to the winter season, but some of which continue to "stupidly" keep their borders closed, according to Jean-Pierre Mas, the president of EdV.
France, with its ski slopes, is at the top of the best-selling destinations for the February holidays (data from Orchestra, as of January 24, 2022), other essential destinations such as Spain, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Mauritius are also on this list, reports L’Echo touristique.

"Activity is down in all segments of our industry: long-haul, school trips, events... Everyone is experiencing a severe depression that continued in January," Jean-Pierre Mas said on Tuesday, stressing that the sector has been "very depressed" since December.
With the easing of health measures announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex, hope seems to be reborn. "Intentions to travel are emerging, for the moment mainly online, and are not systematically translating into firm bookings... This activity leads us to think that we are finally going to return to a normal cycle, that we are going to live with Covid, that we are going to travel," says the president of EdV.
