Morocco to Reopen Airspace for International Flights on February 7

Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, French Minister Delegate in charge of Tourism and SMEs, welcomes the reopening of Moroccan airspace, which has been closed since November 29, 2021.
On Thursday, the Moroccan government announced the reopening of airspace to flights departing and arriving in Morocco from February 7. "This decision comes in accordance with the legal provisions relating to the management of the state of health emergency and following the recommendations of the scientific and technical commission and taking into account the evolution of the epidemiological situation in the kingdom," it said in a statement.
"This is good news for French travel companies because Morocco is traditionally in the top three destinations when the French choose to travel abroad," Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne said on France Info TV. "The destination had disappeared from the radar. It is a winter sun destination, I am delighted for the French travel companies. They are an essential component of this tourism ecosystem," he added.
Due to the suspension of all passenger flights to and from Morocco, the French have favored destinations such as France, the Dominican Republic and Spain for the February-March holidays this year. "We note that Thailand, Morocco and Tunisia have fallen out of the top 10" of destinations, said the president of the professional organization, Jean-Pierre Mas, during a press conference of travel companies, at which figures were presented.
