Morocco Boosts Military Pay: Royal Armed Forces to Receive Gradual Salary Increase

Like other civil servants, agents of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) will benefit from a gradual increase in their salaries.

Two draft decrees prepared by the Ministry Delegate in charge of National Defense were presented for this purpose to the Government Council last week. These are draft decree no. 2.24.647 amending and supplementing Dahir 1.57.015 setting the salaries of military personnel belonging to the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), and draft decree no. 2.24.648 amending the decree on the salary, food and travel allowance regime for military personnel.

These two decrees provide for salary increases and allowances for FAR agents, in compensation for the "considerable sacrifices they make to defend the homeland and the territorial integrity of the kingdom, and in order to create a better match between the salaries of the military and those of other public sector employees".

Thus, colonels, commanders, captains, lieutenants, sergeants, non-commissioned officers, corporals and soldiers, as well as military doctors, pharmacists, dentists and veterinarians of different ranks will benefit from an increase in the allowance for military duties. The first tranche of this premium has already been paid to them on July 1, 2024 and the second tranche a year later, on July 1, 2025.
