Morocco Bids to Bring Formula 1 Grand Prix Back to Africa After 65 Years

63 years after hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix, Morocco has applied to host the competition. The announcement was made on Wednesday by Stefano Domenicali, CEO of Formula One Group.
Africa will soon host a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Morocco would be the only Maghreb country to make its intentions known. "We have requests from Africa. We are discussing with South Africa and a North African country, as well as two from the Far East, such as South Korea," said the former Ferrari team boss on Wednesday, September 15, to the German media BILD.
In 1958, Morocco had organized a Formula 1 Grand Prix in Ain Diab (Casablanca), won at the time by the British legend Stirling Moss. The last Formula 1 Grand Prix on the continent was held in 1993 in South Africa.
