5G in Morocco has been officially launched: here are the details
Morocco has officially entered the 5G era this Friday, November 7. The three national operators, Maroc Telecom, Orange Maroc and Inwi, have announced the commercial launch of their respective networks, promising ultra-fast speeds and a transformation of uses for both individuals and businesses.
For customers, the transition is intended to be simple and transparent. Inwi and Orange have both confirmed that access to 5G will be without any additional cost and will not require any change in the offer or SIM card. The current 4G SIM cards are already compatible. Customers with a 5G smartphone and located in a covered area will automatically switch to the new network.
Regarding coverage, Orange Maroc has announced that it will initially cover 135 cities, provinces and prefectures, with a gradual extension planned across the entire territory. Inwi, for its part, indicated that its network covered "the main cities of the Kingdom", without further details, just like Maroc Telecom, which informed its customers of the launch by SMS.
New 5G offers for homes and businesses at the same price
Beyond mobile access, the operators have unveiled new offers to stabilize this power. Inwi has launched the "5G i-Box", a solution for homes to guarantee ultra-fast Wi-Fi for teleworking, gaming or streaming, as well as "5G Business Connect" offers for businesses.
The three operators highlight the advantages of this technology, capable of speeds exceeding 2 Gbps. Orange points out that it will allow households not covered by fiber to be connected and improve cloud gaming or virtual reality. Inwi insists on the potential for Industry 4.0, citing production automation, remote maintenance, smart mines or telemedicine, which will benefit from "unparalleled precision".
