Morocco Bans Travelers from Seven African Countries Amid COVID-19 Concerns
Sunday 28 November 2021, by
Morocco has just updated its health protocol for international travel by establishing a List C of countries whose travelers are prohibited from entering Moroccan territory.
Travelers from countries such as South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe are not allowed to enter Morocco, whether by direct flights or with a transit. Also, children aged 6 to 11 inclusive must present a negative PCR test, regardless of the country of origin.
This update is part of the measures taken by Morocco in the face of the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in several countries and regions of the world and the emergence of a new worrying variant, called Omicron by the WHO.
According to the inter-ministerial committee responsible for coordinating the implementation of the health system for international travel, these access conditions are the same for any person aged 12 and over. Before all these measures, access to Morocco was already conditional on the presentation of a complete Covid vaccination pass, whether Moroccan or foreign, from a country on List A or List B.
A negative PCR test is also required for travelers from List B countries. A passenger health form must also be presented, undergo a double temperature check on arrival, a random rapid antigen test check on arrival, and strictly comply with barrier measures.
