Morocco Bans Collective Tarawih Prayers in Mosques as COVID-19 Cases Rise

Just like last year, Moroccans will not be able to perform the collective "Tarawih" prayers in mosques during the month of Ramadan. Morocco is facing a resurgence of Covid-19 cases in recent days.
The question is on everyone’s lips. Will the "Tarawih" prayers take place this year? According to well-informed sources, these prayers and the Sobh prayer will not be performed in the mosques this year, reports L’Opinion.ma. However, Moroccans will be able to perform the Dohr and Al Asr prayers in the mosques. These measures can be justified by the surge in Covid-19 cases and its variants. Morocco is also striving to avoid a third wave of the epidemic.
For many experts, virologists and epidemiologists, it is necessary to maintain the curfew during Ramadan. Tayeb Hamdi, researcher in health policies and systems, insisted on maintaining preventive measures including the curfew during the holy month, as this will allow to ease the restrictions in the first months of summer.
As of April 5, the Covid-19 report shows 498,329 cases of contamination, 485,162 recoveries and 8,857 deaths.
