Beach Café Shutdown: Tangier Cracks Down on Price Gouging and Illegal Operations

A series of complaints from consumers regarding the pricing of beach services in Tangier has prompted intervention by local authorities. In this context, a café located in the Achakar region has been subject to an administrative closure measure for several infractions.
The establishment in question, located on the Bouhendia beach, was the target of repeated complaints for overcharging. Visitors had reported to the competent services a "dizzying" rise in the prices of drinks and dishes, particularly pronounced during the summer season. It is the accumulation of these reports that triggered the action of the public authorities.
The investigation carried out on site also revealed that this establishment was operating without legal authorization. This closure is therefore part of a broader objective of the city authorities, which is to put an end to the illegal occupation of the public domain and to regulate the practices of "opportunistic resellers" on the coastline.
