Morocco Baby Trafficking Ring Exposed After Hospital Dispute

Sunday 27 October 2019, by Bladi.net

The failure of this operation occurred following the dispute that broke out between the biological mother, the intermediary and the adoptive mother. It took this heated argument before the security agents and the hospital staff were informed of the existence of this "baby market," reports the daily Assabah.

The same source indicates that the police, called by the hospital staff, rushed to the scene to find out the details of this sensitive case.

The first elements of the investigation into this case, through a thorough consultation of the patient register, revealed that the 28-year-old biological mother registered under a false name.

Indeed, the intermediary, who often negotiates with young mothers, takes the candidate who has agreed to "sell" her baby to the hospital and takes care of all the costs related to her hospitalization until childbirth.

Once delivered and, according to the terms of the agreement, the young mother hands over her child to the intermediary in exchange for a large reward, informs the same source.

Once the cat was out of the bag, the adoptive mother was caught trying to evade the security’s vigilance, without an exit permit. As for the biological mother, she was also arrested as she was about to leave the hospital.

According to the latest news, an investigation has been opened to determine the responsibilities of each of the actors in this network and to uncover other intermediaries involved.
