Remote Video Call Guides Moroccan Nurse Through Successful Rural Childbirth

A nurse recently assigned to the Aït Hammou health center, in a douar in the province of Tinghir, helped a woman give birth after they found themselves unable to access the hospital.
Faced with this situation, the nurse contacted Tinghir hospital via video call. Following the instructions of the center’s midwives and a nurse from Msemrir to the letter, he helped the woman give birth safely.
The nurse, recently assigned to the Aït Hamou Saïd health center, performed a "heroic act," says the commune of Ait Sedrate Jbel El Oulia in a statement, explaining that the nurse had gone to the pregnant woman’s home to assist her.
But having noticed complications, he decided, in coordination with local authorities, to transfer her with her family to the Boumalne Dadès hospital, which is the closest. Unfortunately, they could not access the center due to flooding that made the region’s roads impassable.
The president of the communal council of Ait Sedrate Jbel El Oulia thanked nurse Ilyas Chtioui who did the impossible to save the life of the woman and her baby. He requested the recruitment of a midwife at the Aït Hamou Saïd health center.
