Morocco Attracts Major Film Productions: French Comedy ’La Daronne’ Wraps Filming

Morocco is regularly chosen to serve as a backdrop for major foreign film productions. In the kingdom, some series and fictions are currently in production and will be broadcast very soon.
Among the cinematographic works currently in production, there is "La Daronne", which is a French comedy by Jean-Paul Salomé, the filming of which ended on January 12, 2020, reports Aujourd’hui le Maroc. The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) announced that its team has just filmed the last scenes in Morocco. The same source specifies that this film, whose release is scheduled for March 2020 in France, brings together Isabelle Huppert in the lead role, but also Hippolyte Girardot, Farida Ouchani, Liliane Rovère, Mourad Boudaoud and others. This film tells the story of Patience Portefeux, a Franco-Arab court interpreter, specialized in telephone tapping for the anti-drug brigade, who discovers that one of the traffickers is none other than the son of the devoted nurse who takes care of her mother, indicates the synopsis.
The second film is an American saga. "John3 Wick" is one of the big American productions. According to the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, chapter 3 of this thriller will be shot in Morocco until the end of January 2020. The same source specifies that scenes of this film will be shot in several Moroccan cities, including Rabat, Kenitra, Casablanca, Marrakech, Ouarzazate, Fez, Erfoud, Merzouga, Errachidia and Essaouira. Directed by David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, this new episode of the saga depicts "the flight of John Wick, pursued because he has violated a major rule by taking the life of a member of the Great Table on the soil of the Continental Hotel. His head is therefore put up for a price of $14 million," the synopsis reads.
As for the German feature film "Lindenberg!" by Hermine Huntgeburth, it is currently in full production in Morocco. According to the CCM, the filming, which began on January 7, 2020, will end in early February 2020. In the cast of this film, Jan Bülow, Max von der Groeben, Charly Hübner, Ruby O. Fee, Steffen C. Jürgens and others. It tells the story of a boy from the province of Westphalia who has never had any luck, but who made him become the most famous rock star in Germany, an idol in the East and the West, the same document specifies.
