Moroccan Film Center Clarifies New Visa Fee for Movie Screenings

The Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM) has provided clarification on the royalty on the cultural exploitation visa, following the controversy that arose in the ranks of producers.
In a press release, the Moroccan Cinematographic Center recalled that a visa is now issued by the film viewing commission, only once in the life of a film and before its first screening in Morocco.
This initiative follows the publication of the decision of the Board of Directors of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, meeting on December 27, 2019, and relating to the invoicing of an amount of 150 DH for the issuance of the cultural exploitation visa for films.
According to the same source, each film screened in Morocco "is only subject to the 150 DH royalty at the time of its very first screening in the Kingdom". It also adds that subsequent screenings use the same visa number and are therefore not subject to said royalty.
The Cinematographic Center, in doing so, puts an end to any controversy on this subject. However, it regrets that certain parties, with a particular agenda, have voluntarily made an abusive recovery of this decision.
