Morocco’s Argan Oil Exports Surge to $31 Million Despite Pandemic Challenges

In a difficult context marked by the health crisis due to the coronavirus, Moroccan exports of argan oil recorded strong growth last year, reaching some $31 million according to official figures.
As the world’s leading producer of argan oil, Morocco has an Argan Biosphere Reserve (RBA) covering an area of about 2.5 million hectares. This crop is mainly located in the regions of Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, Inezgane Ait Melloul, Chtouka Ait Baha, Tiznit, Taroudant, Sidi Ifni, Essaouira and Guelmim.
This reserve includes a great wealth and ecosystem and floral diversity representing nearly a third of the total flora, notes the newspaper Aujourd’hui le Maroc, according to which it encompasses a vast and varied territory and that the landscape is thus very diversified, due to the configurations of the different natural units at the level of the High Atlas, the Anti-Atlas, the plains and along the coast which extends over more than 350 km.
