Morocco Approves Four New Public Sports TV Channels

The High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) of Morocco has just authorized the creation of four new public television channels dedicated to sports.
The body approved at the beginning of the week the project of the National Radio and Television Company (SNRT) relating to the creation of four new television channels dedicated to sports, namely: "Arriyadia 1", "Arriyadia 2", "Arriyadiya 3" and "Arriyadia 4". These new channels "will broadcast their programs throughout the day by satellite and by any other technical means," it is specified.
The launch of these new sports channels is intended to strengthen the main channel, Arriyadia, and should contribute to improving the quality of the public audiovisual service in terms of the treatment of sports information at the national, regional and international levels, according to an official press release.
HACA has invited the SNRT to "redouble its efforts to ensure broader and more in-depth media coverage of women’s sports and to ensure fair media representation of women’s experience in this field." The body also stressed the important role of sport in strengthening the culture, parity and equality between men and women in Moroccan society.
