BeIN Sports Sues Moroccan Telecoms Over Widespread IPTV Piracy

The piracy of sports television channels via IPTV has become a scourge in Morocco, prompting the Qatari group beIN Sports to take radical measures and turn to the courts.
Faced with the scale of the phenomenon, beIN Sports has decided to target the main Moroccan telecom operators, accusing them of facilitating access to illegal IPTV services.
Maroc Telecom and other operators are thus targeted by a complaint filed by beIN Sports before the Moroccan justice system. The Qatari group accuses these companies of serving as technical intermediaries for piracy, allowing a large part of Moroccans to illegally access its programs.
According to estimates, more than 80% of Moroccans would watch sports and entertainment content via pirate platforms, thus depriving beIN Sports of a significant portion of its revenue and infringing on its intellectual property rights.
