Morocco Appoints Budget Minister Lekjaa to Lead 2030 World Cup Bid Committee

King Mohammed VI has decided to appoint Fouzi Lekjaa, the current Delegate Minister in charge of the Budget, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), as President of the Committee in charge of Morocco’s Candidacy for the 2030 Football World Cup.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has been pleased to assign to Mr. Lekjaa Fouzi, Delegate Minister in charge of the Budget, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the Presidency of the Committee in charge of Morocco’s Candidacy for the 2030 Football World Cup, within the framework of a joint candidacy Morocco-Spain-Portugal.
"His Majesty the King, may God glorify him, had announced on March 14, 2023 on the occasion of the presentation in Kigali of the CAF Excellence Award for the year 2022, awarded to the Sovereign, the decision of Morocco to present, with Spain and Portugal, a joint candidacy to host the 2030 World Cup.
"On this occasion, His Majesty the King, may God assist him, had stressed: "Without precedent in the history of football, this joint candidacy will be that of the junction: between Africa and Europe, between the north and south of the Mediterranean, and between the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds. It will also be a candidacy of gathering around the best on both sides, and the demonstration of an alliance of genius, creativity, experience and means".
