Morocco and Israel Discuss Expanding Economic Ties During Ministerial Visit

Morocco and Israel want to expand their cooperation in the economic and financial sectors. The subject was at the heart of an exchange between the Minister of Economy and Industry, Orna Barbivay, currently on a working visit to Morocco, and her Moroccan counterpart Nadia Fettah Alaoui.
On this occasion, the two ministers revisited the ties of attachment between the two countries, welcoming the progress made in the implementation of the instruments of economic cooperation, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries on December 22, 2020, reports the MAP.
In this regard, Ms. Fettah Alaoui stressed the importance of the agreements currently under negotiation between the Moroccan and Israeli Ministries of Finance, particularly in the areas of investment promotion, taxation and customs cooperation. These agreements should contribute to the promotion of economic and financial cooperation between the two countries.
She also discussed the significant potential for the development of investment relations between Morocco and Israel. To this end, she declared herself ready to work, jointly with Barbivai, to promote business relations between the economic operators of the two countries and explore the investment opportunities offered by Morocco, thanks to its exceptional geographical position and the diversity of its sources of growth.
Orna Barbivai, for her part, welcomed the constant evolution of bilateral relations between Morocco and Israel. She also reaffirmed the Israeli government’s willingness to build a strategic partnership with Morocco capable of driving a constructive and sustainable dynamic in the economic relations between the two countries.
