Morocco and UK Expand Defense Partnership, Focus on Cybersecurity and Regional Stability

Relations between Morocco and the United Kingdom were at the heart of a meeting that took place in Rabat, between the British High Advisor for Defense for the Middle East and North Africa, Air Marshal Martin Elliot Sampson, the Delegate Minister in charge of National Defense Administration and the Army Corps General, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and Commander of the Southern Zone.

In a statement, the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces indicated that, during these exchanges, the Moroccan and British officials discussed the good progress of the relations that unite the two countries in several areas. They also reaffirmed the need to expand their partnership towards the defense industry and cybersecurity.

During the session, the British High Advisor praised the professionalism with which Morocco is involved in maintaining regional stability. While congratulating the kingdom for its multidimensional reforms launched in various sectors, he welcomed the holding of joint military commissions that meet regularly in Rabat and London in order to make the best of the opportunities offered by cooperation such as the development of interoperability of forces and the exchange of experience and expertise between the two Armed Forces.

The cooperation between Morocco and the United Kingdom is governed by a Framework Agreement on Military and Technical Cooperation and an Agreement on the Status of Forces, the statement points out.
