Morocco and Algeria Vie to Host 2025 Africa Cup of Nations After Guinea’s Withdrawal

After the withdrawal of Guinea, the African Football Confederation (CAF) has just reopened the selection process for a new host country for the 2025 CAN. Who between Morocco or Algeria will win the new call for tenders launched on Wednesday?
According to the statement from the organization, Member Associations have until November 16 to submit their candidacy. The deadline for submitting the final bid is set for December 16 and the inspection visits will take place between January 5 and 25, 2023. The host country will be designated on February 10, 2023 by the CAF Executive Committee.
Patrice Motsepe, president of the institution, had said that about ten countries had expressed interest. Among them are Morocco and Algeria. The two countries have indeed expressed their intention to host the competition, having solid arguments.
The kingdom has a great experience in organizing continental events and sports championships, as shown by the final of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, held last June in Morocco.
Algeria, on the other hand, is very interested in hosting the 2025 CAN, as it has not hosted any competition since 1990. The country is about to inaugurate four new modern stadiums and has already rehabilitated other infrastructure. The competition between the federations of the two countries promises to be tough to win the organization of the tournament.
