Morocco and Algeria Explore Reopening Shared Border, Officials Discuss

A meeting recently took place between the leader of the Socialist Party, Driss Lachgar, and the Advisor to the Algerian President, Abdelmajid Tebboune. The two parties discussed the idea of reopening the Moroccan-Algerian borders.
According to the newspaper Al Ousboue, the two interlocutors have committed to multiplying their contacts and working together to bring this initiative to fruition.
The objective, continues the media, is to eliminate all obstacles to the free movement of goods and people, through the unconditional reopening of the borders between the two countries.
Let us recall that the former leader of the Socialist Party, Abderrahmane El Youssoufi, is highly appreciated by the Algerian political leaders. The Algerian president had paid tribute to the Moroccan activist following his death on May 29.
