Morocco’s Anass Zaroury Fulfills ’Childhood Dream’ with World Cup Call-Up

Called up by the national coach to replace the injured Amine Harit, Anass Zaroury spoke about his selection, saying he is realizing a "childhood dream."
Zaroury’s youth and performances on the Burnley pitch led Walid Regragui to call him up for the first time with the Moroccan national team.
A former Belgian youth international, the 22-year-old player has played in the youth categories of Belgium, his country of birth. Holding both Belgian and Moroccan nationalities, the player had a choice between the two national teams.
Reacting on his Instagram account, Zaroury expressed his joy at playing for Morocco. "I am very happy and honored to be able to defend the colors of Morocco during the best competition in the world. I would like to thank my loved ones, my family and the Moroccan supporters for their immense support. Not forgetting the coach for his trust and for giving me the opportunity to realize a childhood dream," he wrote.
