Morocco’s Amrabat Faces One-Match Ban, Not Two; Federation to Appeal CAF Decision

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has denied rumors about the suspension of Sofyan Amrabat for two matches by the Confederation of African Football.
Sofyan Amrabat is not under a two-match suspension after his red card obtained during the round of 16 match against South Africa (0-2) at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, a source from the FRMF told Alyaoum24, specifying that, contrary to the rumors circulating on social media, the Atlas Lion has only been suspended for one match by the Confederation of African Football.
The governing body of Moroccan football has announced that it will appeal this decision to suspend Sofyan Amrabat to allow the midfielder to take part in the match against Zambia, scheduled for June 7 at the Adrar stadium in Agadir, and the one against Congo, scheduled for the 11th of the same month in Brazzaville, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
