Morocco’s Amine Adli Expresses Regret Over AFCON Exit, Hopes for Future Success

Amine Adli spoke about the early elimination of the Moroccan team in the round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, expressing his disappointment and hoping for better performances from the Atlas Lions in the future.
"I’m sorry! I’m disappointed. The whole Moroccan people were disappointed. I had at heart to have a great CAN, to win a title with my country. Inshallah, we will have other chances. I hope the Moroccans will continue to support us as they did after the defeat. I thank them. They were of incredible support," said the Bayer Leverkusen striker on Saturday, after his club’s victory over Bayern Munich (3-0).
Amine Adli also welcomed the retention of Walid Regragui as the national coach of the Atlas Lions. "I am very happy. The whole squad is behind the coach. I think there was no question to be asked. He is like a big brother, someone very important to us, a great coach. We are all with him, we appreciate him enormously. Failures in football happen. I know the coach had at heart to do something great for all Moroccans. Inshallah, with him and all his staff we will come back stronger," he said.
Amine Adli hopes that his club, Bayer Leverkusen, will win the German championship this season. "We are one of the favorites but not the big favorite! Even five points behind Bayern Munich, we can expect anything. We have to keep working and I hope everything will go well for us. We’ll see by the end of the season."
