Morocco Allocates 500 Million Dirhams to Modernize Public Transport Fleet

As part of the relaunch of the road transport fleet renewal program, the government has announced the release of a budget of 500 million dirhams for the 2022-2023 period.
Launched by the National Road Safety Agency (NARSA), the new program concerns vehicles with public service status, the fleet of private companies dedicated to personnel and others being excluded, reports Le360.
"We inform the owners of old trucks and coaches who want to acquire new vehicles that the fleet renewal campaign for the current year has come into effect with a budget of 250 million dirhams dedicated to premiums. For 2023, a similar amount will be mobilized," said Chakib Ramli, director of administrative, legal and financial affairs at NARSA, in an interview.
In this sense, a large awareness campaign has been initiated to encourage interested parties to register and follow the processing of their files via its platform, he added.
Questioned about the functioning of the program, the official explained that each stage has "its own assessment and evaluation". "For each period, we have kept the positive aspects and corrected the shortcomings, particularly with regard to the amount of premiums which was considered not very attractive at the beginning," he stressed.
