Morocco Aims to Solidify CAN 2025 Qualifying Lead Against Central African Republic

Buoyed by their crushing 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic last Saturday, the Moroccan national football team is preparing to face the Fauves du Bas-Oubangui again this Tuesday evening. This match, counting for the fourth round of the 2025 CAN qualifiers, is an opportunity for the Atlas Lions to confirm their dominance and conclude the October FIFA window in style.

Despite the lopsided score of the first match, coach Walid Regragui identified areas for improvement, particularly in managing the end of the matches. "The management of the end of matches is one of the points that I do not like in this kind of match. We must maintain the same intensity from the first half throughout the match to remain a formidable team," he had said after Saturday’s match.

For this second act, Regragui should reshuffle his starting lineup. Changes are expected to give playing time to the new players called up, but also to compensate for the injuries, particularly those of Yassine Bounou and Nayef Aguerd. The absence of the latter could allow the young Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal (18 years old) to make his first appearance with the A team.

Other new faces could also make their appearance on the field, such as Reda Belahyane, defensive midfielder of Hellas Verona, and Osame Sahraoui, left winger of LOSC Lille, considered one of the promising talents of the League and therefore of the Moroccan team.

It is therefore with confidence that the Atlas Lions approach this return match against the Central African Republic team. As last Saturday, the public should be present in large numbers at the Oujda Stadium.
