Morocco Aims to Revive Tourism, Targeting 13 Million Visitors Post-Pandemic

Rebuilding tourism demand and returning to the pre-health crisis situation where 13 million tourists were welcomed. This is, according to Adel El Fakir, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), the priority of Morocco for the next three years.
For El Fakir, the objective is clear. "We will absolutely have to wait for the recovery, go through the period of recovery and reconstruction, observe and survey the new behaviors and new trends in order to be able to position the real potential of the destination," he said in an interview with La Vie Eco.
To achieve this objective which is to reposition Morocco as a safe destination, "one of the major destinations of the ’Revenge travel’ as soon as the conditions for recovery are met," El Fakir is counting on "the excellent image enjoyed by Morocco in terms of the management of the pandemic and especially of the vaccination operation".
El Fakir also relies on the new marketing device dedicated to the Moroccan destination to boost tourism demand. He particularly welcomes "the complete overhaul of our digital presence, with strong components: video, social networks and segmentation of demand by country".
The revival of the tourism sector will begin with the resumption of domestic tourism, emphasizes El Fakir, who announces that a national campaign will be launched next week to prepare for the summer season. Also, a global campaign will be organized internationally, rather than country-by-country campaigns, he added.
