Morocco’s Aguerd in Race to Regain Fitness for World Cup Qualifiers

Often injured, Moroccan central defender Nayef Aguerd has been absent from the pitches for a few weeks. He is currently following a recovery program under the supervision of the Atlas Lions’ medical staff.
On the recommendation of Walid Regragui, Nayef Aguerd is following a strict training program at the Mohammed VI football complex. The matches against Zambia and Congo scheduled for next June as part of the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, require it. The coach of the Atlas Lions is counting on the Moroccan central defender. He will have to regain his physical form and rhythm before these two matches.
Since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN Côte d’Ivoire 2023), the Moroccan international has accumulated poor performances in England due in particular to injuries. This has prompted West Ham to want to part with him. The London club’s management wishes to "sell" him during the next summer transfer window, if it receives a financial offer exceeding 25 million euros, according to the British website West Ham Zone. Saudi clubs like Al-Fayha are already showing interest in the player who joined the Hammers from Rennes in the summer of 2022 for around 35 million euros (30 million pounds sterling).
