Morocco Advances Plans for $32 Million High-Speed Rail Link Between Marrakech and Agadir

Morocco is active in the design of the third section of the HSL that will connect the cities of Marrakech and Agadir. This work has been entrusted to a South Korean company.
The South Korean company (KNR) will design the third section of the HSL connecting the cities of Marrakech and Agadir. An agreement has been signed between it and the National Railways Office (ONCF). This is the first contract of its kind won by KNR on the African continent. The design of the Marrakech-Agadir HSL will cost Morocco $32 million (about 230 million dirhams). KNR will have to start working on the project from April.
The KNR consortium will provide basic design services for the 320 km HSL connecting the two tourist cities, reports Railjournal. According to KNR President Han Young, the project is an opportunity for Korea to prove to the world that it is a technological leader and capable of exporting HSL rail designs.
