Morocco Advances Plans for Digital Travel Certificate System

The implementation of the Digital Travel Certificate is taking shape in Morocco. Several officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism and Air Transport, Health and Interior have recently exchanged on the subject.
During this meeting held at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, the discussions focused on the European Commission’s proposal to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, to set up a joint committee responsible for monitoring the mutual recognition of the Moroccan and European certificates and studying the opportunity to have the travel certificate issued by the laboratories approved by the Ministry of Health.
This vaccination certificate, available in printable PDF and smartphone formats on the portal http://www.liqahcorona.ma and through the more than 2,000 counters of the Ministry of the Interior, includes personal data (CNIE or CS number, passport number, name and surname, gender and nationality) and an authentication QR code.
"The vaccinated person can go to the counters to retrieve their vaccination certificate," informs the Ministry of the Interior, adding that the reading and authentication of the certificate is done via a dedicated application accessible on a smartphone or a barcode reader. This application will be made available to local authorities, the police, the gendarmerie and any other public body, or targeted private structures such as airlines, restaurants, etc., the ministry said.
The security services, in particular the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Royal Gendarmerie (GR), will be invited to the next sessions, after validation of the draft certificates relating to vaccination and PCR tests, the ministry assured.
