Morocco acquires the jewels of the Israeli military industry

The Israeli defense industry is expanding its global reach, from Southeast Asia to the Maghreb. While Israeli weapons are currently deployed on the Thai front, Morocco confirms its status as a strategic client by validating a new order for heavy artillery in 2025.

The global reach of the Israeli military-industrial complex is starkly illustrated in the border war between Thailand and Cambodia. On the ground, Thai soldiers are seen with Tavor assault rifles and Hermes 900 drones, demonstrating that despite the international criticism related to the war in Gaza, Israeli defense exports are not in crisis. It is in this context of growth, driven by giants like Elbit or Rafael, that the Kingdom continues to strengthen its arsenal.

Indeed, Morocco has finalized in 2025 a new major investment, signing an agreement estimated between 150 and 200 million euros for the acquisition of ATMOS howitzers. This mobile artillery system complements an already substantial list of technological purchases, as Rabat had previously acquired the PULS rocket launcher and the Barak MX air defense shield.

The Kingdom is thus part of a regional dynamic where the Middle East and North Africa now capture 12% of Israeli arms exports. Like Azerbaijan or India, Morocco is betting on Israeli technology to modernize its armed forces, consolidating a defense cooperation that places Israeli companies among the preferred suppliers of the Moroccan military.
