Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi Named Best Arab Athlete of 2022 After World Cup Success

A new distinction for Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi. The right-back was elected best Arab athlete of the year 2022, during the Joy Awards ceremony held on Saturday evening in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
After being elected second best Arab player in 2021, Achraf Hakimi wins the title of best Arab athlete of 2022, for having contributed to Morocco’s breakthrough at the Qatar 2022 World Cup and for his performances at Paris Saint-Germain. He had participated in Riyadh in the friendly match that opposed PSG to a selection of players from Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr and which ended in the victory of the Parisian club (5-4).
The year 2022 was exceptional for the Atlas Lion with an exemplary performance at the CAN Cameroon 2022, during which he scored two goals and provided one assist. At the World Cup, as a starter in all seven matches for Morocco, he played a pioneering role. With the club, Hakimi won a first French championship title with PSG as well as the Champions Trophy. With 38 games played with PSG, he scored 4 goals and provided 6 assists.
