Thursday 26 August 2021, by Jérôme

As part of the electoral deadlines of September 8 next in Morocco, more than 4,500 observers have just been accredited. Representing 44 national organizations, these observers will be deployed throughout the national territory with 17 NGOs and two international parliaments.

For accreditation, the respect of the conditions enabling the selected observers to play their role independently has been taken into account, said the president of the National Human Rights Council (CNDH), Amina Bouayach, adding that appeals can be filed according to the procedure set up by the Commission.

Bouayach also renewed her call to the accredited bodies for strict compliance with Covid prevention measures. For people with disabilities, provisions will likely be put in place to facilitate their participation. In addition, during these six meetings, the Commission adopted an internal regulation, a candidate form, a notice of candidacy and a Code of Ethics for the observer. Not to mention that consultations have been initiated by the Commission on topics related to social gender, the disabled and others.

It should be noted that the Commission has also updated its website observationelections.cndh.ma. This portal is available in five languages and its main purpose is to support the mission of the observers. Moreover, based on law 30-11, the Commission, composed of four members representing the government authorities responsible for Justice, Interior, Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and Communication, a representative of the Interministerial Delegation for Human Rights, a representative of the National Authority for Integrity and the Prevention and Fight against Corruption and five representatives of civil society associations represented within the CNDH, is able to receive and process accreditation requests, validate them or not, issue accredited observer cards and badges...., the press release states.
